I Was Like You... Maybe Worse

Ten years ago I was like you, struggling financially. I was living paycheck to paycheck (if you can call that living). I was three payments behind on my mortgage and my home was just about to be in foreclosure.

I drove a 1986 Ford Escort (a real Junker) that I purchased from a "buy here pay here" type of used car lot (it was the only place that would finance me with such bad credit). I had this car that barely ran, yet it cost me about half of my paycheck every two weeks to keep it.

I got a few credit cards when I was 25, and by the age of 29 they were maxed out. Everything I had, including all of my furniture and TV's, even my computer, was bought on credit and way behind on payments.

I was so deep in debt it was embarrassing. Somehow from the age of 25 to the age of 29 I managed to get myself more than $35,000 in debt, and that's not including my house or car. Everything I owned I didn't really own, the bank did.

At the age of 34 I decided I couldn't continue to live like this. I knew there had to be a better way of life out there and I was determined to find it. I set out trying everything I could think of to make extra money.

At first I picked up an extra job selling cologne door to door. This wasn't the best idea but I needed to find a job where I had the freedom of working my own hours so I could work around my 50 hour a week work schedule.

I did this for 3 months. It wasn't working out the way I had hoped so needless to say I quit.

The next bright idea I had was to join an MLM business (For those who don't know what MLM is, it stands for "Multi-Level Marketing"). I was involved in this business for a little over 8 months. It was fun and I met a lot of new people, but I didn't make any money. I actually lost money buying the tools I thought I would need to be successful in the business.

I went on to try a few other things like selling water proofing door-to-door, and I even joined a petitioning campaign as a second source of income. I tried just about everything I could think of to make extra money and nothing worked.

The few things I tried that actually did bring in a little extra money took up so much of my time it wasn't even worth it.

Then one day a friend of mine at work started telling me about how his cousin works for himself on the Internet and makes a killing.

He went on to tell me that he started working for himself online about a year and a half ago and he was already making three times more money working from home than he was at his full-time job, and because of this he was able to push himself into a very early retirement.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I knew his cousin and he never struck me as a very intelligent or business-minded man, and on top of that he couldn't have been any older than 35 and he was already able to retire. "This is amazing," I thought to myself.

After work that day I rushed home and looked in my old phone book, found his cousins number (Jeremy is his name), and called him. I talked to him on the phone for about 20 minutes just trying to get as much information out of him as possible.

He told me a little bit about what he was doing and how he was making so much money online but he seemed kind of secretive, like he didn't really want to tell me anything of value.

I gathered what I could from him (it wasn't much) and began searching the Internet in hopes of learning how to start earning an income online and finally start living the life I have always wanted.

The Answer To My Problems....Or So I Thought

I searched the Internet for days looking for information about making money online. Every minute I had that I wasn't working or sleeping I was glued to the computer screen.

There was so much information it would have taken me a life-time to read it all. I began buying books on different ways to make money working from home on my computer.

In the next 6 or 7 months I must have purchased 100 eBooks. Most of them were junk and didn't really teach me much of anything, but I did find a few that were decent.

After months of research I began testing everything I learned from all of the books that I had read. I must have tried 100 of the so-called "GURUS'" secrets on how to make money online, and none of them worked for me.

After failing to generate any extra income online using all of the secrets the gurus discussed in their eBooks I gave up.

The following couple of months were exactly the same as the previous years. I was rudely awaken every morning at 6 am by an annoying alarm clock. I showered and got dressed, went to work from 7 am until 7 pm, came home, showered, ate dinner and relaxed for an hour, then went back to bed at 9 pm to wake up the next morning and start all over again.

The bills kept coming in and were still months behind, and every day I lived in fear that this might be the day I lose my home.

Then one night as I was lying in bed, it hit me. I finally realized why after trying numerous times to make money online using the information I had learned I never achieved the type of success I was looking for. I realized the REAL SECRET to success online that none of the books that I read talked about.

How It All Started

With these ideas fresh in my head I excitedly jumped out of bed and rushed to my computer. I began putting my idea together. For the next 5 hours I worked on my computer setting up what I had hoped would be my first successful stream of income online.

I finally finished around 2:30 am and crawled back into bed. All night I tossed and turned, barely getting any sleep until my alarm clock rang at 6:00 am, as it does every morning. I forced myself out of bed, too tired to even shower, threw my work clothes on, and left for work.

All day at work I could barely function. The minutes seemed like hours and by my 1:00 break I was completely exhausted. I spent my whole hour break in my car taking a nap.

After break I went back to work and kind of drifted through the rest of the day. When 7:00 finally rolled by (it seemed a lot longer than usual) I clocked out and headed home. I was so excited to get home and sleep I completely forgot about my genius idea I put together on the Internet the night before.

I walked in the house and took a quick shower. Completely exhausted, I decided to skip dinner and go straight to bed.

While lying in bed I remembered that I had put my "secret" idea into place on the computer last night (I was so tired it completely slipped my mind). Curious to see if anything had happened with my account while I was at work, I forced myself out of bed. I went over to my computer and turned it on not knowing what to expect.

$75.00 for 12 hours of work..or..$87.48 for nothing?

When I checked my account I was surprisingly shocked. While I was at work I made $87.48 online. This was astonishing because I wasn't even home when this money went into my account. I took a minute and thought about everything. I realized that at work that day I made a little over $75.00, and while I was at work my online secret was working for me, making me $87.48. I made more doing practically nothing online than I did in a full day's work at my regular job.

The next three months were mostly spent going to work and in my spare time critiquing all of my money-making secrets. After building one online income stream I moved to another.

I was continuously coming up with new ways to make money online (ways that actually work). Within three months I had 4 successful streams of income working from home on my computer.

Because I was doing so well working for myself I was able to cut some hours at work and just work part-time. I was finally caught up on all of my bills, including my house and car payments, and was looking forward to the future once again.

Eight months after putting my first online income stream together I was able to quit my job. This was one of the happiest days of my life. I was finally living the kind of life I have always dreamed of.

If I wanted more money I just put another income stream together online. I was finally living the way I wanted to live, and not the way I had to live.

My Life Now...

I also have a corvette that I drive when I'm in a "fast mood." I still work just a few hours per week from the comfort of my own home, so I get to spend the majority of my time with my family.

I vacation regularly (about 5 vacations a year). I have been everywhere from Egypt to France, and all over the United States. I am finally living life and not just going through life.

Well it's quite simple actually, let me share a short story with you.
One day I went over to my mother's house for a small family dinner. My sister, her 14 year old daughter, my aunt Cathy, my uncle Gary, my mother and I always get together Sunday nights and have dinner at my mother's house.

While sitting at the table discussing family and jobs etc... (you know, small-talk kind of things) I noticed my mother seemed to be in a particularly sad mood.

At first I thought nothing of it. "She must just be having a bad day," I thought to myself. But after dinner, as my sister and my aunt were washing the dishes and my uncle was in the living room watching cartoons with my niece, I was walking down the hallway towards the bath room and I noticed my mother's bedroom door was cracked open and I could hear her talking.

I reached out and opened the door, curious to see who else was in the room, and to my surprise my mother was sitting on her bed looking into the mirror on her wall talking to herself.

I took a couple of steps into the room and said calmly, "Hey mom what's going on, is everything ok?" When she turned and looked at me I could see she had been crying. I reached out started rubbing my hand over her back to help calm her down and I asked if she wanted to talk.

For the following two hours we discussed life, work, money, retirement, family and stress. She began by telling me about the good old days when life was easy and less stressful, when everything was cheap and people didn't worry about money that much.

She told me that bread used to only cost .25 and gas was only .69 a gallon. She went on to tell me about the milk man and how they used to have milk delivered to their door step. We talked about her life growing up and how her mother raised 4 girls and 1 boy by herself with only a secretary job.

After talking about her childhood years and sharing a few laughs she turned serious and got that sad look on her face again. She began telling me about how stressful her life is now, how she can barely afford groceries and how she is three mortgage payments behind and is scared that she might lose her house.

She went on to tell me that she constantly worries about the little things such as if her car breaks, how will she be able to fix it and how is she going to pay the bills month by month.

She talked to me about her work and how she is always going that extra mile to try and impress her "boss" so she might be able to get a raise.

She told me about how she has been working at her current job for 22 years and how she still doesn't feel that she belongs. She talked to me for two hours about how hard life is with no money.

By the time I calmed her down and we went back out to the kitchen my sister and her daughter were already gone and my aunt and uncle had their coats on ready to leave. I put on my coat gave my mother a kiss good-bye and left right after my aunt and uncle.

$5,500 Gone Just Like That

The whole drive back to my house I thought about what my mother and I had talked about. At first I was a little upset and disappointed in her because just 3 months earlier I gave her and my aunt Cathy each $3,500 each to help them with their car and house payments.

I thought back 6 months ago and really became angry when I remembered that I gave my mother an additional $2,000. That is a total of $5,500 extra money in less than 6 months and all of it was gone JUST LIKE THAT. Neither my mother nor my aunt was in any better situation financially than they were before I gave them money.

I thought about this for the next two days and realized that me giving them money was not going to help much at all, at least not in the long term.

This really bothered me because I love my family and I hate to see them live like this, but I can't just keep giving my money away. I thought long and hard about how I can help them get out of the "rat race" of life and stop living paycheck to paycheck.

After thinking for days about how I could help them fix their financial situations and lead better lives I decided to put all of my money-making techniques in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step manual on how to make money on the Internet.

I figured if I was living comfortably working from my home just a few hours a week and my family was living poor working for someone else 40 hours a week that if I taught them how to do what I was doing to be wealthy they too could lead better lives.

She went on to say that he will be bringing in $300 more every month and how that would help out a lot with the bills. I asked her how much her bills were every month and after paying all of her bills how much money she was left with. She kind of giggled at this comment and said NONE.

She explained that they don't pay all of their bills every month because they couldn't afford it. They pick and choose which ones are the most important and pay them first, then move on down the line.

She told me that some of her bills were more than 3 months behind. I asked her how much of that she would be able to catch up on with the new income her husband will be bringing home and she rudely replied, "NOT ENOUGH."

After listening to my sister and I talk for about 10 minutes, my uncle started talking about his problems financially. He was telling me that he has been working at his job for a little over 10 years now and still only makes $11.50 an hour.

My aunt grunted at this and interrupted, saying, "I only make $8.25 an hour so consider yourself lucky." They both continued for about 15 minutes, talking about how they never feel that they can get ahead in life.

My aunt Cathy made the comment that every time she feels she's moving forward something always happens to bring her back down. "I get a raise and my insurance or cable bill goes up," she continued. "I finally start saving a little bit of money and my car breaks." "Even when you gave me that $3,500 to help with my bills I ended up right back where I started just a few months later."

I could tell she started really thinking about her financial situation and it started to upset her, so I interrupted and asked them...

I briefly went through the book with them and told them that the contents of this book have everything you will need to be successful online. I went on to explain that all of my secrets and my most powerful money-making strategies were in this book.

I talked briefly about how everything in this book is the reason I was able to retire at such an early age and it is the reason that I am able to live the kind of lifestyle I do. I asked them to take it home, read it, and call me when they felt they were ready to start making money online.

Eager to get started!!

The next morning my phone rang at 8:00 am. I rolled out of bed and went over to answer it. I thought to myself, "This is way too early, it better be important." When I reached the phone I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and saw that it was my mother.

I nervously answered the phone, thinking something was wrong (why else would she be calling me this early?). As soon as I answered she said excitedly, "IM READY."

She had already read the book and was ready to put all of the information she learned to use. I talked to her for about 5 minutes and told her I was going back to bed and I will call her when I wake up and we will set up a time to get together and talk about everything. I got off the phone and drug myself back to bed.

As soon as I got comfortably back in bed my phone rang again. I was getting upset. I forced myself out of bed for the second time and stomped over to the phone. This time the caller ID said it was my sister.

I answered the phone in an angry tone. "What?" I asked. She kiddingly replied, "Good morning did I wake you up?." I didn't find this very funny and asked her again, "What do you want?" (I'm grumpy if I don't get to sleep in until at least 11.)

She told me she had read the book and loved it. She went on to tell me how easy and simple my secrets were. She said she was ready to put them to use and start making some money. I told her I would call her when I get up and we will meet up with mom a little later.

I hung the phone up and headed back to bed. I didn't get halfway across the room when the phone rang again.

I turned around and went to answer the phone. It was my aunt Cathy. I picked up the phone and before even saying hello I asked if she had read the book. "Yes," she replied, "how did you know that was why I was calling?" I told her about my mother and sister calling just moments before.

I talked to her for a minute about what she learned from the book and then asked her when would be a good time to meet and get started. We decided to meet at 6:00 pm that night at my mother's house. After getting off the phone with my aunt I didn't even bother to try and go back to sleep.

I called my uncle and asked if he had read the book and what he thought about it. He told me he read it and was very impressed, "I was just about to call you," he said, surprised that I called him just as he picked up the phone to call me.

I laughed at this comment and told him about my mother and sister and Aunt Cathy calling me just moments apart from each other (I can't believe all of them wake up this early). I asked him to meet with me at 6:00 at my mother's house. He agreed without hesitation.

I knew there was no way I was going to get back to bed so I decided to go to the gym and work out for a little bit. I put on some gym cloths and went to get some breakfast and then go work out.

I spent about 2 hours in the gym and then took a dip in the pool. By the time I got done working out and swimming it was already noon. I went back home and showered and got ready for the day.

The rest of the day was spent preparing for the meeting with my family later that night. I was so excited. I was finally going to be able to help my mother, aunt Cathy, uncle Gary, and my sister with their financial problems, and this meant a lot to me.

Getting Started Is Easy…

When 5:30 finally came around I packed up all of my notes, grabbed my laptop computer, and left for my mother's house. I arrived at her house around 5:45 and was happy to see that my family was already there.

I grabbed my notes and laptop out of the back seat and headed inside. When I got inside I was pleased to see that everyone had brought the packet I gave them the night before. I wasted no time getting started.

I sat down answered all of their questions and then opened my laptop. I began showing them how to set up their own accounts and within 2 hours all of them had an account set up and were ready to start making money.

We went over the book once more just to make sure they understood everything. I told them what they should do in the next few days to make sure that they see the type of results they are looking for.

Within 2 hrs all of them had an account set up and were completely ready to start building their first stream of income online. I asked them all to check in with me on a daily basis so I can track their success and help them with any questions they may have. We all said our good-byes and left my mother's house around 10:00 pm.

I went home that night and went straight to bed, expecting to be rudely awakened early the next morning to the sound of the annoying ringer on my phone.

I figured when they woke up and checked their accounts online and see how much money they made while they were asleep, they would grow ecstatic and call me bright and early filled with excitement.

The next morning rolled around and to my surprise there were no phone calls and I was able to sleep in until 10:30. I rolled out of bed and started a pot of coffee. When my coffee was done I read the morning paper, sipped my coffee, and then started a hot shower.

After showering I checked my caller ID to see if I had missed any of their calls and it was blank. No missed calls. "Maybe they just didn't have time to check their accounts this morning before they left for work," I thought, a little confused.

I went about my day as I always do (pretty much doing whatever I feel like doing) and got back home around 6:00 pm. When I got in I checked my caller ID again and once again it was blank.

I thought for sure my family would have called me by now because they all get off of work around 5. I ate dinner and watched a little TV. By 10:00 that night I still didn't receive any phone calls so, a little disappointed, I decided to go to bed. "They will be calling me bright and early tomorrow morning for sure," I thought to myself as I made my way up the stairs and into bed.

Maybe they weren't ready to be rich.

The next morning was exactly like the morning before. I woke up around 10:30 and my family had not called yet. I drank some coffee and read the paper; still no word from any of them. I took a shower and then checked my caller ID - no missed calls.

"I can't believe that none of them have called to tell me how well they are doing," I thought, a little surprised. "I'm sure they will call by the end of the day." 6:00 came around and still no word from my family...then 7:00...then 8:00. I began growing impatient.

My head began filling with thoughts like, "What if my strategies for making money online didn't work for my family? What if I just got lucky and that's the only reason it worked for me?"

Thoughts like this ran through my head for the next half an hour or so, but were quickly replaced with thoughts like, "All of my strategies work for me, so I don't see why they wouldn't work for them, or any one in that case."

My strategies and secrets on how to make real money online were killer, and I knew there was no way my secrets didn't work for them, so I couldn't figure out why they hadn't called.

By 9:00 that night, a little upset and filled with curiosity, I decided to call them. I picked up the phone and began dialing my mother's number. The phone rang about 4 times and then I heard her voice, "Hello," she said as if she hadn't forgotten to call me the past two days.

I asked her where she's been the past couple of days and she said working and getting stuff done around the house. When I asked her why she hadn't called to check up with me like I had asked her to, she explained that it completely slipped her mind.

She went on to tell me about how stressful work has been and how she hasn't had much time to herself. She apologized and told me she was going to check her account right now and she would call me back in a few minutes.

For the next 10 minutes I sat on my couch in my living room with a nervous feeling in my stomach. The same negative thoughts were running through my head as before. "What if my secret strategies didn't work for them?" The thoughts continued, "What if I just got lucky? I never shared my secrets with anyone before so how do I know they will actually work for everyone?"

After 10 minutes, these thoughts were interrupted with the tedious sound of my phone ringing. I picked up the phone and looked at the caller ID, it was my mother.

I grew so nervous my palms began to sweat. All I could think about was how I really didn't want to get her hopes up and then let her down if my strategies didn't work. The phone rang in my hand about 3 times before I finally built up enough courage to answer it.

Making money doing nothing, it must be nice!!

"Hello," I answered the phone with a nervous tone in my voice. My stomach was hurting so badly it was almost unbearable. I couldn't believe I was this nervous over a phone call from my mom, but the sick feeling in my stomach quickly vanished when I heard her response.

Before even saying hello she replied, "I can't believe it actually works," she said full of excitement. "It was so easy. We set up that account and left it alone." She went on hysterical about what she had seen, "I actually forgot about it for the past couple of days and it still worked; I still made money."

She was so happy and excited that she was making money online doing practically nothing, I almost didn't want to ask her how her account was doing, but I interrupted and asked anyway.

She told me that her account was already up to $159.83. "This isn't a lot of money," she went on to explain, "but it is when I didn't do anything," she said, amazed at how easy it actually was to make money online.

She continued for about 20 minutes, telling me how she couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe that she hadn't even logged into her account ever since I left her house that Thursday night and she still made $159.83 in the past two days.

The next few weeks were spent adding new information and critiquing the information I already had in my book. After I was completely done with the book and all of its upgrades I gave it a name, "The Affiliate Marketer's Handbook ," and handed it out to my family members.

During these few weeks my family called and checked in with me every day and continued to make a steady income online. My mother and my uncle were making about $55.00 on average every single day and my aunt Cathy was making just a little more than that. I was amazed at my sister's success. In just three weeks she was already making around $95.00 per day. "I didn't even make that much at first," I thought, a little jealous.

The next six or seven months went really well. All of them continued using all of my techniques and secrets for making money online and as a result their success continued to grow.

Just 5 months later…

Within just five months my sister was already able to completely catch up on her credit card debt and she and her husband were able to pay all of the bills on time every month and still have plenty of extra spending money.

My sister even bought a new wardrobe, which was a complete waste of money if you ask me, because she already had so many clothes it was sickening.

My aunt finally stopped worrying about everything all the time. She continued to work her at job making a measly $8.25 an hour, but it didn't seem to bother her at all. In fact she was making twice as much money working from home than she was at her job and was actually on the verge of quitting.

I could tell how much stress was relieved from her life in just 6 months after being able to catch up on all of her house and car payments and finally paying off all of those god forsaken credit cards.

One day, about 5 months after I helped my family get started online, while I was sitting at home watching television I heard a loud roar that sounded like an engine come from my driveway.

"I don't know anyone who drives a car that is that loud," I thought to myself, so I got up and walked to the window, curious to see who was outside. When I got to the window I saw my uncle Gary standing in my driveway beside a brand new Corvette.

I laughed and headed outside. He asked if I wanted a ride and I immediately said yes (what man would pass up a ride in a brand new Corvette?). We drove around for about 20 minutes (man was that thing fast!) and he told me about how he just bought that car and about how he was able to drop some hours at work and finally start living life a little bit.

After he dropped me back off at home I watched as he peeled out of my driveway. I was really happy that I was able to help my family finally start living the life they always wanted.

My mother was doing very well. She was like a completely new person. I took her out to eat one night and she was going on and on about how much her life had changed in the past 5 months.

She told me that she was looking towards retirement sometime next year. She was only 45 but after working for a fast food restaurant for more than 20 years she was relieved to finally see retirement approaching soon. I am kind of a mamma's boy, so to see how happy she was made me feel very good and honored to have been able to help her with her financial struggle.
